The Tesla Model 3 placed 9th out of 134 in USA passenger car sales figures (source). In 2018, it placed 11th.
In the midsize luxury car segment, the Model 3 was #1 out of 17 (source). It was also #1 last year.
Sales numbers show that the Model 3 beats the BMW 3, 4 and 5 series combined. It even beats the #1 cars in the “small luxury car” and “midsize hybrid & electric car” segments. In fact, it beats all the car sales in the “midsize hybrid & electric car” segment combined! However, when looking at the “midsize car” segment, Tesla still has a lot of work to do making an affordable mass market car.
